Britain approves extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to US

Britain has approved WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s extradition to the US. He is wanted by US authorities over documents leaked in 2010 and 2011. Mr Assange faces 18 criminal charges, including one on spying related to the release of confidential US military records and diplomatic cables. He is being held at London’s Belmarsh prison after a lengthy legal battle to avoid extradition.
