Freezing temperatures engulf US causing widespread travel disruption

A deep freeze has enveloped most of the United States early on Friday, as cold air plunges south from northern Canada all the way to the Gulf coast. Combined with a massive winter storm brewing in the midwest, two-thirds of the nation is under extreme weather alerts.
