“We Steal Secrets”: Alex Gibney’s New Documentary Explores the Story of WikiLeaks

DemocracyNow.org – Broadcasting from the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, we take a look at the new documentary from Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, “We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks.” The film examines the key players involved in the whistleblowing website’s release of hundreds of thousands of secret U.S. diplomatic cables to the whistleblowing website WikiLeaks. The founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, features prominently, as does Bradley Manning, the army private accused of leaking the documents to WikiLeaks. Gibney, a documentary filmmaker who won an Academy Award for “Taxi to the Dark Side,” joins us in Park City.
