Wikileaks Cables on Raila And Uhuru

Now, just what did the US Ambassador Michael Ranneberger think of Prime Minister Raila Odinga decision to purportedly sack Education Minister Prof Sam Ongeri and the then Agriculture Minister William Ruto in February last year? According to a cable by Ranneberger to Washington released by wikileaks, the American diplomat was of the view that Odinga made the move to divert attention from the fact the some of his close family members may have been involved in the maize scandal. And in yet another cable, the US diplomat appears to speak favourably about Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidential ambitions in the 2012 general election, especially if he were to team up with suspended Higher Education Minister William Ruto. But as Andrew Ochieng reports, Ranneberger also remarks in the same cable that Uhuru drinks too much and is not a hard worker.
