It has now emerged that president Mwai Kibaki doubted whether Prime Minister Raila Odinga wanted peace, and saw this as an impediment to dialogue. This is according to the latest cable form whistle blower site Wikileaks. In the cable, highlights of meetings between assistant secretary for African affairs in the us government Jendayi Frazer with Kibaki and his team, it is believed that Kibaki was ready for dialogue with Prime Minister Raila Odinga but that hardliners in his team like the then minister for justice and constitutional affairs and Gichugu Mp Martha Karua was against, such a move as it would be a show of what they termed as a none existent “co-presidency” ideal.
